Re: Francis's relationship to Money

Francis's relation ship went from extreme to the other during his lifetime.  During his early years, Francis enjoyed all of the comports of his fathers wealthy business.  He spent his father's well earned money all the time when he was a teenager.  With all of his fathers money at his disposal, he bought things like suits of armor, alcohol, and lavish clothing.
Later in life, Francis had an epiphany that made him want to peruse a life of poverty and and honesty.  He had either little or no money at all.  He would beg for his food, and not accept the food from charity.  Even his father had offered him money, but Francis would have none part in his money or charity.

  2. Francis was spoiled. He was allowed to shirk his studies and pursue a carefree life. He was especially fond of whiling away hours with friends. (Galli page 18)
Francis it seems to, was born for thi lifestyle; he was an object of admiration to all, and he endeavored to surpass others in flamboyant display of vain accomplishments. (Galli Page 18)
Francis is famous for embracing poverty at any cost, and rightly so. It went hand in hand with the humility that Francis wanted to instil in himself and his brothers. (Galli page 92.)
